Privacy policy
Recipe Cart builds a weekly protein shopping plan from your goal and favorite foods, shows current Kroger prices, suggests meal ideas made from those foods, and can send the items to your Kroger cart. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Questions? Email therecipecart@outlook.com.
What we collect
- Your Google account details. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and a unique account ID. Sign in is handled by Google Firebase.
- Saved meals. If you tap Save on a meal idea, we save the meal title, the food and ingredient names, the amounts, the short recipe steps, and the date. We do not save any Kroger product or price information. Meal ideas you do not save are not stored by us.
- Weekly protein plan history. When you send a protein plan to your Kroger cart, we save your weekly protein target, the food names you typed in ranked order, and the date. We use this to show your weekly streak and to let you rebuy a plan. We do not save any Kroger product, price, or image information, and we do not save the store you picked.
- Your Kroger connection. If you connect your Kroger account, we store a token that lets us add items to your Kroger cart on your behalf. We do not see or store your Kroger password.
- Your ZIP code and preferences on your device. Your ZIP code, your selected Kroger store, your protein target, and your list of preferred protein sources are kept on your own device so you do not have to retype them. The foods you add in the Ideas tab and your idea filters (cooking time, minimum protein, maximum calories, and budget) are also kept on your device. We do not save any of this on our servers, other than the protein target and food names in your plan history described above.
- Photos on share cards. If you add a photo to a share card, it stays on your device. It is used only to draw the card in your browser and is never uploaded or stored by us. The card and its link are shared only if you choose to share them. A shared link may include a food name, such as the main ingredient of the meal.
How we use it
- To sign you in and keep your saved meals tied to your account.
- To create meal ideas. When you ask for meal ideas, the food names in your plan, the amount of each food, your meals per day, and your cooking time setting are sent to Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI model. When you get ideas from the foods in your kitchen, the foods you typed or tapped and your filters (cooking time, minimum protein, maximum calories, and budget) are sent to Anthropic in the same way. We never send prices, brands, or other Kroger product information. Protein amounts shown with each meal are calculated by our own server from those amounts, not by the AI. We do not keep the meal ideas unless you save one.
- To look up stores and current prices near your ZIP code. The ZIP code and each ingredient name are sent to Kroger. Prices are looked up live each time and are not stored by us.
- To build a protein plan. Your ZIP code or selected store and each food name you enter are sent to Kroger to find matching products and current prices. Your weekly protein target is used on our server to work out quantities.
- To add items to your Kroger cart when you press Send to my Kroger cart or Add full plan to my Kroger cart.
- To show your weekly streak and let you rebuy your last plan. Rebuying looks up fresh prices each time.
We do not sell your information. We do not use it for advertising.
Who else handles your information
We use these services to run Recipe Cart, and they process information on our behalf: Google Firebase (sign in, saved meals, and plan history), Netlify (hosting and the server functions behind the app, which may record technical details such as IP addresses and request logs), Anthropic (writing meal ideas from your foods), and Kroger (store, price, and cart features). Each has its own privacy policy. Recipe Cart is an independent app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Kroger.
How long we keep it
We keep your saved meals, weekly plan history, and Kroger connection until you delete them or delete your account.
Your choices
- Delete a saved meal. Open the Saved tab, find the meal under Saved meals, open it, and choose Delete.
- Export a saved meal. Open the Saved tab, open the saved meal, and choose Copy or Download.
- Delete everything. At the bottom of the page, choose Delete my account and data. This removes your saved meals, your weekly plan history, your Kroger connection, and your sign in account. If you would rather we do it, email us.
- Disconnect Kroger. You can remove Recipe Cart's access from the connected apps or account settings in your Kroger account.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including keeping database access limited to our own servers. No online service can promise perfect security. If a breach affects your information, we will tell you as the law requires.
Children
Recipe Cart is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
